The festival of St. George (Sant Jordi) is celebrated every year in Catalonia on April 23rd. Also known as the “Day of the Rose and the Book”, celebrations were also held across North America over the past several days. In New York, the Catalan Institute of America (the officially recognized civil society group in New York, or casal) organized a diverse range of activities at the Barnes & Noble book store of the Upper East Side of Manhattan to celebrate this unique Catalan custom.
